Ben Mauro’s Huxley NFT Comics to be turned into a feature film
Ben Mauro has spent around ten years working on writing and illustrating his first original graphic novel called Huxley. The original Huxley™ robot character was created and designed back in 2014 with a story he had in his mind, in 2016 he started to actively produce page 1.
Huxley is a science-fiction story told in six digital issues that may be purchased as Ethereum NFTs. Huxley invites readers into a post-apocalyptic universe, set in the desolate wastelands of a planet crippled by nuclear war.
Soon this post-apocalyptic digital comic tale will become a feature film.
Marvel film producer Ari Arad’s Arad Productions announced plans to turn artist Ben Mauro’s Ethereum NFT comic book project Huxley into a feature film. To make the film, Arad Productions has paired up with Web3-focused production studio Feature and has enlisted Academy Award-nominated VFX supervisor Jerome Chen — a co-founder of Sony Pictures Imageworks — to help in bringing Mauro’s vision to a new platform.
Although the film’s cinematic trailer depicts a CGI animation, whether Huxley will be an animated or live-action production is yet to be announced. The release date of the film is also TBA. However, partners plan to let fans engage with Huxley-themed metaverse experiences ahead of the film’s release.
The first NFT issue of Huxley was released in October, with 10,000 digital issues released at a mint price of 0.10 ETH apiece (about $390 then). A second issue has since been released, with four more on the horizon. According to OpenSea, secondary sales of the two issues have thus far generated over 1,920 ETH or about $4.9 million at today’s rate.
Mauro, a concept artist who has worked on films like “Elysium” and “The Hobbit” plus the Halo and Call of Duty game series, launched his first NFTs in March 2021. Evolution, his first drop on the Flow blockchain, made more than $2 million in sales. According to Mauro, NFT is a very big idea that will help every artist in the world and change a lot of artists’ lives. It solves a problem that they’ve been having their whole career with not being able to make any money with their digital creations.
The NFT projects are growing in popularity.
