Shemaroo Opens Decentraland’s Metaverse Cinema Experience

Shemaroo, a major player in the Indian entertainment industry, has partnered with Filmrare to deliver an immersive movie experience on Decentraland Metaverse.

One of the top metaverse platforms, Decentraland, has hosted an interactive movie experience as part of Shemaroo Entertainment’s web3 campaign launch.

The “Shemaroo Theatre” is an immersive theater that has been opened by the Indian entertainment and media conglomerate in collaboration with the metaverse consultancy and production business, Filmrare.

Shemaroo claims that this “first-of-its-kind” movie experience is a major opportunity for the business because it opens up a channel for disseminating Bollywood’s top entertainment materials over the globe.

The metaverse is typically defined as a 3D virtual environment in which users can interact anonymously using 3D avatars and partake in immersive activities including gaming, virtual concerts, and movie theater experiences.

With virtual popcorn and drink kiosks for immersive storytelling, Shemaroo Theatre aims to provide the same degree of experience as real-world movie theaters.

Additionally, virtual guests can enjoy brand-new screening activities including the opulent lobby, the ticket counter, and the trailer zones.

Shemaroo Entertainment CEO Hiren Gada commented on his company’s entry into the metaverse, saying: “As a brand, Shemaroo has always cultivated the culture of innovation and technology, and with the addition of Shemaroo Theatre on Decentraland Metaverse, we will be leading a parallel ecosystem for Bollywood movies to be experienced on a big screen, now from the comfort of one’s home.”

By utilizing the advantages provided by the web3 generation of the internet, the business seeks to advance the Bollywood moviegoing experience. Gada asserts that the launch of the new product demonstrates the company’s dedication to persistent innovation to produce a variety of content offerings.

As a lending library for books, Buddhichand Maroo founded Shemaroo 60 years ago. In 1979, the company launched India’s first rental company. Since then, it has expanded into the massive media and entertainment empire it is today.

“It’s a wonderful honor to join with a company like Shemaroo that has been entertaining audiences for the past 60 years and to exhibit some of its blockbuster Bollywood movies through the virtual theater in Metaverse,” said Ravi Krishnan, the founder of Filmrare.

The Decentraland DAO Governance Facilitation Squad continued, “We are over the moon to have Shemaroo Theatre on our platform and to deliver some of the best Bollywood movies to our current as well as potential metaverse consumers. This will undoubtedly elevate the entire movie-watching experience without restricting what can be done in a real movie theater.
