Twitter extends trial of tweet tiles into NFTs
The social media behemoth Twitter is extending the Tweet Tiles trial to non-fungible tokens. Tweet Tiles were previously tested with prominent media publications like The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, and The Guardian (NFTs). For the capability that enables tweets to display an interactive, customizable widget, some NFT markets have been chosen.
For the pilot, the marketplaces on OpenSea, Rarible, Magic Eden, Dapper Labs, and GuardianLink’s Jump.trade have been chosen. The featured partners will thus be able to show vibrant NFTs inside tweets for the first time. According to GuardianLink, a developer of blockchain solutions, the format enables a larger image of the NFT to be presented alongside metadata like the title and originator.
NFT collectors would have a new opportunity to share their digital collectibles if the pilot were to be successful and made available to all Twitter users.
Twitter decided to expand the Tweet Tiles test program to NFT marketplaces after introducing NFT avatars for users who connect their web wallet to confirm ownership.
The ability to embed NFTs, replete with important information and a direct marketplace link, will promote sales and support the discovery of new and trending collections. Tweet Tiles allow developers to extend and improve the Twitter user experience. The five NFT markets highlighted are now using the Tweet Tiles trial on iOS and the Web.
Tweet tiles are Twitter posts that have larger photos, different fonts, and obvious CTAs (call-to-action) added to increase clicks.
Notably, the social media platform allowed some of its users to post verified NFTs as their profile photographs in January of last year. Twitter recently opened an account on the Foundation, an invite-only NFT marketplace powered by Ethereum.
Users of the service, which costs USD 2.99 per month, can “set an NFT as their profile picture from the Twitter for iOS app,” which requires them to use Apple iPhones. This will allow a special “verified” “hexagon-shaped profile picture” to be “seen across all platforms,” according to an official tweet from Twitter Blue.
