Visa submits trademark applications for NFTs
The filing of a trademark for NFTs by a well-known celebrity, firm, or brand is always a cause for celebration among NFT enthusiasts. This frequently refers to upcoming endeavors. Multinational payment processor VISA filed two NFT trademark applications for digital wallets, non-fungible tokens, and the metaverse on October 22, 2022.
One of the applications seeks trademarks for the management of digital transactions; use as a digital currency wallet and storage services software; use as a cryptocurrency wallet; and managing and verifying cryptocurrency transactions using blockchain technology, while another is for providing temporary use of non-downloadable software for users to view, access, store, monitor, manage, trade, send, receive, and transact in digital assets.
Other components of the applications deal with virtual spaces in which users can interact for recreational, leisure, or entertainment purposes accessible in the virtual world, as well as non-downloadable virtual commodities and a collectible series of non-fungible tokens.
These comprehensive trademark applications are not a surprise despite their size. Even Web3’s partner payment processors, like Western Union, have been entering the market in droves. In the end, NFT enthusiasts will profit the most because they will have a variety of possibilities.
